Way to go Bobcats!!

Sunday was Blake's last regular season hockey game.  This weekend they have a practice and next weekend is the Timbits Jamboree tournament at Terwillegar Rec Centre.  Blake's team had a great year, so many kids improved so much over the course of the hockey season and a ton of fun was had by all - kids and Coaches :)  Blake's made some good buddies.  According to Cal and the other Coaches, they are often overheard talking about Lego and joking around between shifts ... too cute!!!  Blake himself has improved immensely and is really enjoying the game.  He has a huge smile on his face every shift and after the game and still takes the time to skate by the stands and wave to anyone who is there watching him!  Love, love, love that :) :)  He's still looking for his first goal but doesn't seem too concerned about scoring!!  The Saturday that Cal and Blake went to the Oiler's game, the team had a full ice shinny game against the team they share practice ice with.  Blake overheard the Coaches telling Cal that they played a full ice game and changed on the fly.  During dinner a few nights later, Blake said to us, "I wish I would have been at practice on Saturday."  I said, "Why?" And he replied, "Because they played a full ice game against the Lions and even changed on the fly!"  Trying to hide the smile on my face and not giggle, I asked, "What is changing on the fly??"  Blake paused, got that goofy lopsided grin on his face, shrugged his shoulders and said, "Wellllll ... I don't really know!  Dad, what is changing on the fly?"  Maybe you had to be there but it was sooo darn cute!  He said, "Changed on the fly" just like an expert ;)  We're looking forward to the Timbits tourney next weekend and the wrap up party at the beginning of April!  Although it is Blake's hockey team, we've all had fun meeting new people and visiting every weekend!  And I think that is one of the best parts of being involved in minor hockey (and maybe any team sport!) - it's a team environment, right down to the siblings and parents who also form friendships and a 'team' :)

Sleepover at Grandma's :)

Blake and Em were very lucky to each spend at night at Grandma's this week!!

While Dad was working in Peace River this week, my Mom was home tying up loose ends before their two month vacation (Yes, I said 2 months!!  That's the life of the semi-retired ;)  And they earned every second of this vacation!!  Something to look forward to when it's our turn!!).  She asked if Emerson would like to sleep over on the 5th and Blake the next night!  The kids were super excited and started packing their bags right away!  You would have thought they were each going away for a month with everything they wanted to pack ;)

Em went home with Grandma on Tuesday afternoon and then met Blake, Reese and I at Beaner's on Wednesday afternoon.  She came home with Reese and I, while Blake went with Grandma for his sleepover!  They both had a great time and have already asked when the next sleepover is!

Thanks Grandma (and Grandpa who got home Wednesday afternoon!) for having Blake and Em over for sleepover's.  Cal and I both remember sleepovers at our Grandparents houses and how special they were.  And even though we live a short drive away our visits are often quick for that reason, so the extra time was very nice for the kids!  They really enjoyed themselves and it was a nice break for Cal and I ;)  It really made us realize how easy only having two is!!  lol!  All joking aside, we missed them even though it was only one night each and we were very happy to see how much they missed each other :)

Mom and Dad will soon be off on their vacation.  We will miss them tons but are happy for them and their time away to relax and unwind!  They've had a busy winter!  And we will keep in touch with them via FaceTime, Skype and their US cell phone - gotta love technology!!  Love you guys, safe travels!

xoxo
