This past weekend, August long, was our 1st annual Cameron family camping trip. This year, we visited Ol' MacDonalds Resort on Buffalo lake. What a neat place! It is definitely one of the most kid friendly campgrounds I've ever seen. There is so much to do and see, we didn't even get to half of it I'm sure! We will definitely visit again! I think the kids really enjoy all the activities as they get a bit older.
Thursday night Cal's sister Kathy and our niece Katie spent the night and Friday at 1 pm we headed out. We all arrived at the campground around the same time, and were surprised to see a line up to get in!! Saturday morning we hit the beach and the temperature was around +32 at the hottest time of the day! The beach is gorgeous and the water is very clean and shallow. We didn't spend much time in the water though, Blake was more interested in digging in the sand! Saturday at supper time a crazy wind came up. I checked the weather network on my blackberry and they said the winds were around 100 km/hr!! But thank goodness we didn't get any of the hail that hit in other areas around Alberta. Sunday was another warm day, although not quite as hot as Saturday. Sunday evening we gave Bruce (Cal's Dad) his birthday present and celebrated his upcoming 60th birthday! On Monday before we all headed home, we took some group pictures. We do not have everyone together very often, so it was great to get some pictures!
Blake had lots of fun playing at the campsite and running around with his cousins! He eventually let go of his toys and figured out that they weren't going to disappear on him if he shared them with the other kids!! For some reason or another, he did not take a nap on Sunday. Which really ticked his Mom off!!!! Oh well, he got up and was fine, just went to bed super early because he was absolutely exhausted. And he woke up a decent times all weekend, thankfully!! Emerson did well too! She just kind of hangs out of course, not into too much quite yet!!! But she did wake up early every morning :( At home her bedroom is quite dark and I think the morning light was waking her up. We might try tinfoil on the windows on our next camping trip!!!! I just brought her into our bed when she woke up, so she wouldn't wake Blake up.
My family came for an early supper and visit on Monday afternoon. Lindsay and Jeremy were down for the weekend and headed back to Fort McMurray after supper. My Mom came for a visit on Tuesday morning and other than that we're just planning on spending some time outside and playing inside this week! Blake is enjoying his new train table, from Jeremy's brother. Makes me think we should have bought him one a long time ago!! I think the kids might enjoy being home and not too busy for a few days, after our busy weekend. On Saturday Cal has a golf tournament and Sunday we hope to visit a u-pick farm!
