This year we chose Ol' MacDonald's Resort for our family camping vacation! We left on Monday, July 4th and returned today! We camped with my parents and had a FANTASTIC time!!
We chose the rainy day (Monday) to visit the Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller, AB. Both the kids loved running around the museum and exploring! Blake was SO excited, it was so fun! He was dancing all over the place and I think his enthusiasm took over Em as well :) She was laughing and giggling and running around!! It was fun to watch and fun to point out interesting facts/exhibits to Blake! I was very impressed by the museum and will definitely be going back! Another highlight of our trip to Drumheller was a ride on the local Bleirot Ferry across the Red Deer River. Blake was in awe! It's really, just a short jaunt across the river, but something amazing to a 3 year old little boy who LOVES everything to do with trucks, trailers, boats, etc!
Back at Ol' MacDonald's we enjoyed the warm weather on the beach, took many trips to the ice-cream store, Blake rode the train 3 times, we visited the petting zoo countless times, Em and Blake both rode the merry-go-round, and Blake enjoyed 2 wagon/tractor rides! The kids slept pretty good and a great time was had by all! Ol' MacDonald's is definitely a great place to visit, especially with young kids :) We will be back!!

New Wheels!!
We picked up our new mini-van on Monday afternoon! I LOVE it!! It's so nice to drive and very roomy :) And I love the options!! The UConnect and the back up cam are my favorites so far!! UConnect allows you to operate your phone hands free, through blue tooth. It's ran by a voice recognition system and you can also use the touch screen too! I've found it very convenient! Apparently you can control your radio the same way, but I haven't tried that yet. We were going to fold both the middle bucket seats into the floor and then bring one back out when the baby was born, but Blake insisted we had the babies seat up now!! And he was pretty excited by the "little t.v." in the van, but we're not going to be using it anytime soon. He does really great travelling without watching a DVD, so as long as we can avoid that we will!!! They didn't get the car starter put in the van before we picked it up, so my Mom and Dad are taking it in on Friday for us, to have that installed, as well as rubber floor mats! The kids stayed at Auntie Lesley's house while we picked up the van and went to the registries office. I was worried Em would cry the whole time we were gone, but she didn't!! Just a short time after we left. We were very impressed by this, she must trust her Auntie Lesley :) Blake had a short crying time too ... but recovered and enjoyed playing with Colby! We brought our van back there and enjoyed a great steak dinner!! Thanks so much to Lesley for watching the kids for us and the yummy dinner!!
Cal's been busy the past few days, helping his Dad out. Bruce stayed over last night and wasn't given a moment of rest while Blake was up!! Blake loved having him here and kept him busy playing various games and with his trucks and tractors! I was worried Em might play strange with Bruce, but she didn't for long! She had fun too playing with Grandpa Bruce! We went out for lunch this morning before taking Bruce downtown. He's catching the bus back to Grande Prairie this afternoon. We went to McDonald's so the kids could play in the Play Place. Blake wanted to show Grandpa how high he could climb!!
Emerson is growing up SO fast :S She often says please and thank you now, which is really adorable :) She is loving walking and we've had quite a few people remark on how sturdy she is!! I guess she just wanted to be an expert before attempting walking?!? She loves repeating words and has fun pointing to things and learning what they are. I'm wondering if she will potty train at a younger age - she already knows what the potty is and will often point to the toilet when Blake or I are using it and say, "Potty!" I forgot how at such a young age they start following simple directions. For example, I can ask her to get her shoes and she walks on over and picks them up!! And often attempts to put them on herself, which is really adorable!! She loves shoes and is always pointing to them and saying, "Sssshhoes!" I remember Blake loving shoes too and enjoying putting on other people's and walking around! Emerson has a very expressive face ... to say the least!! She can really give you a look that could kill or could turn around and give you the sweetest little smirk. She definitely knows what she's doing! I've never seem anything like the pout she puts on!! But I've also never seen a grin so sly!! She plays shy with certain people and then will turn on her 1000 watt grin!! I swear she knows what she's doing! I still think she's a bit of a drama queen, which can be frustrating at times, but then you pick her up and she gives you the biggest hug and you forget being upset!! She can be a little cuddle bug and there's nothing better in the world then a hug from your baby :)
Blake seems to have slowed down in his growing. He's not eating near as much these days. But that's okay, I suppose he'll eat what he needs! He was at 39 lbs at Emerson's 12 month check up, so I think he's ready for a booster seat, but we haven't made the switch in our vehicles yet. My Mom and Dad have a booster seat for him and he loves it! It's also much more convenient and easier to do and undo! As long as he's in a booster seat by 2011 camping season we're good! It will be much less squishy in the back of Cal's truck if he's in a booster! Blake is also growing up too darn quick!! It's hard to believe he was ever a little bitty baby in our arms :( His favorite game continues to be hide and seek! He's getting better at hiding, doesn't tell us where he is anymore ;) Hide and Seek has really helped him with his counting. And at the young age of 3 he is a back seat driver ... Cal would say he takes after his Mom :P And he questions EVERYTHING!!! Why? What? Who? Where? What are you talking about? How come? Some days it is so tempting to say, "BECAUSE!!!!" But I know that by questioning everything, he is learning! Lately he's been very interested in everyone's eye color. He tells me that when he gets older his eyes will be green. I think he's questioning his blue eyes ... Cal, Emerson and I all have green eyes!!
We're excited to head out camping on Sunday. We're going to Ol' MacDonald's Resort with my parents. We hope to make a day trip to Drumheller and spend lots of time on the beach! So far the forecast looks good and we're hoping it stays that way!! Not one of us is a hot weather fan!! We all like around +20. It's funny because, I think Blake dislikes the really hot temps too. We've noticed he doesn't like being outside for long when it's in the high 20's or even 30's. Cal is off on Canada Day, but we're not sure what we're doing. There is a big celebration at a new park/spray park by our house, so we might check that out. Saturday morning we plan to visit the St. Albert Farmer's Market. And of course we'll be getting the trailer ready to go! Last year we were gone for almost 2 weeks and I find myself over packing this time around! We're only gone for 6 days, so I don't need to pack near as much!!
Have a great weekend everyone and Happy Canada Day :)

Big Day!!
We have had a very busy and exciting day!! We started the morning a bit slow and cranky, but it quickly got better!! We bought a new lap top from Best Buy yesterday, but it wasn't working. So the kids and I exchanged it this morning and so far so good with the new one!
When we got home from Best Buy, guess what Emerson did?! She decided to WALK!!!! It was so cute and so exciting! Blake and I were cheering her on and she was so proud of herself, it was adorable!! In the past she'd take a few steps towards a wall, or the coffee table, a push toy, etc, etc and then continue on with a hand on something sturdy. Today she ventured off all on her own and walked all over the place - without holding on!! I have lots of video and will try to post it on Facebook! She's so cute walking, she grins and giggles and stops and claps for herself!! What a girl! We thought she might be 2 by the time she ventured off on her own, thankfully not! She's so sturdy though, her balance is very, very good from all those months of practicing and squatting, etc! No weebling or wobbling! Way to go Em :)
This afternoon we headed out to Stony Plain to talk to Jim at Stony Chrysler about a mini van. Turns out he had pretty much exactly what we were looking for on the lot! We're the proud new owners of a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan! Yay!! I'm definitely not one of those people who've said, "I'll never drive a mini van!" I've always been more like, "One day I'll drive a mini van!!" Guess that's my practical side!! It's so nice to drive and I LOVE the options! It was a touch screen navigation system and stereo, with a back up cam, Sirus satellite radio, blue tooth for your phone, 2 DVD screens, power everything (all the windows, even the back ones!), it's so luxurious compared to my little, plain car!! Oh, and it's "titanium" ... fancy word for dark grey ;) We will pick it up in a few days!
So that's our exciting day :) Talk to you again soon!!

Placenta Previa
I had a busy afternoon, with a dentist appointment followed by a doctor's appointment! Although, I'm sure Cal's afternoon was a bit busier with the 2 kids!!
I found out at my Dr.'s appointment that I presently have placenta previa. My placenta is low-lying, below my uterus. Apparently, this is no cause for major concern at this point in my pregnancy. I haven't had any bleeding, but I was told to go to the E.R. immediately, should it begin. The Dr. said that typically as the uterus grows the placenta will move into the preferred location of above the uterus and not covering, below or close-to! I will go for an ultrasound in September to see if the placenta has moved at all. If it hasn't, I will continue to go for regular ultrasounds, until around 35 weeks. If at that time it still has not moved, I will be booked for a c-section. So, we will wait and see what happens! I'm not too concerned about it at this point. The thought of a c-section doesn't really bother me (it would have with my first pregnancy!) and as long as I'm not having any bleeding and the baby is healthy, all is good :) The babies heart beat was 148 bpm today and other than the placenta previa, all was well on the ultrasound. I tried not taking the diclectin about a week ago and was so sick, I ended up taking 1 mid-day and then 2 again that night. I only took 1 last night and I lost my lunch right before my dentist appointment. We went out for lunch today, so I'm not sure if it was the food or not taking the diclectin, so I only took 1 again tonight and we'll see what tomorrow brings!
Just wanted to write a quick update on the baby and pregnancy!! Talk to you again soon ;)

Happy Father's Day!
Wishing Cal, my Dad, my brother-in-law's, my father-in-law, and my Grandpa a VERY Happy Father's Day!! I am surrounded by wonderful men ;) Thank you, thank you, thank you to Cal for being such an amazing father. I never knew what kind of Dad you'd be Cal, although I knew you'd be great, but you are beyond great!!! The kids and I are so blessed to have you, we love you so much! Thank you to my Dad for being there for Cal, the kids and I always and for being such a great Grandpa and Dad! We are so lucky to have you and love you very, very much.
We had an awesome weekend at Long Lake Provincial Park. The weather was HOT and we all came home with some color! The heat sure takes a lot out of you though, and combined with less sleep then usual, we're all a little exhausted! The kids had a blast at the beach!! We were a short walk away from the beach and park and scoped out some spots for next year! It is a very nice campground, with 2 beaches, a nice concession/restaurant, paved walking/biking trails, a clean lake, and a rental shop where you can rent boats and water bikes! And it's only 1 hr 20 min from our house :) It would be a great place to spend more then a weekend!
Have a nice week everyone :)

Ultrasound!!
Baby and I had an ultrasound on Wednesday! All is well and NO we don't know the sex!! And we're not lying!! I didn't even see a hint either way ;) Blake, Cal and Emerson joined me in the room after the medical portion of the ultrasound was over. Blake enjoyed watching the screen and seeing his new sibling, Em wasn't as excited!! I remember taking Blake to see Em's ultrasound when he was around Em's age and he actually pointed to the screen and said baby!! On Wednesday morning I told Blake and Em that we were going to see the baby that afternoon. Blake furrowed his brow and looked at me and then continued on playing. About 5 minutes later he said to me, "Mom, are we going to take the new baby camping?" I think he thought the baby was going to be born that afternoon!!! If only it were that easy ... lol!! I told him that the baby isn't going to be born until November and that we were just going to see a picture of the baby that afternoon!! He is so into this whole baby thing, it's awesome! He's always mentioning the new baby and wondering where it will sleep, where it's car seat will go, what car seat it will use, etc, etc! I love how he's a little planner!! Wonder where he gets that from?! We got quite a few pictures of the little one printed, here is the clearest one:
I'm feeling the baby move a lot now, which is really cool! I can't wait until I feel big pokes and prods :) This will probably be my last pregnancy, so I'm trying to treasure it! Other then the puking and nausea, hard to treasure that ... lol! Although when I was sick with Blake's pregnancy I was still so over the moon and so happy to just be pregnant, I oddly enough enjoyed every minute!! Every time I was sick, I'd think to myself, "This is great! Means the baby is growing and doing well!!" But the 3rd time around, it's not so great. Ha, ha!! I think Cal and I might actually have a boys name picked?! Maybe ... at least were close! Girls first names ... not so close! It's so hard the third time! Actually it's hard the 1st and 2nd too, but even harder the 3rd!! I have a Dr. appointment Monday, so we'll see what the babies heart beat is! Next week I'm 20 weeks!!!!
We are excited to get away this weekend!! We're headed to Long Lake Provincial Park, near Boyle, AB. My parents, sister (Jeremy's away on a fly-in fishing trip with co-workers), friends Paul and Mary Scott and Paul's son and daughter-in-law, Gerry and Lorraine will be joining us! They have 2 younger children, so I'm sure Blake and Em will enjoy having some little playmates :) The forecast is saying the temps will be in the mid 20's, so hopefully we'll be hitting the beach!! Cal hooked the trailer up last night and pulled it to the side of the house. When Blake saw this, this a.m. he was EXTREMELY upset :( He was so sad that he didn't get to help Dad hook up the trailer. Poor guy! We assured him he could help once we got to the campground, when we leave the campground and when we get home again :) I think that made him feel a little bit better. He really loves helping Cal! His special job is cranking the jacks down, and he does a pretty good job of it too!! Poor little guy can be so emotional. I hate that things like this that seem so "small" seem to break his heart :(
Thanks for all the comments on the "new blog look"!! I love it! Cal and Blake love orange and there's a little pink in there for Em and I ;) Have fun celebrating all the wonderful Dad's in your life this weekend and enjoy the sun :)

We love the SUN!!!
Oh, how we love this weather!! It's so nice to have the sun shining on the weekends :) We had a great week as well. It seemed busy, but we had lots of fun meeting our friends Stacey, Alana and Parker at the Servus Centre indoor playground and visiting Jodi, Kaislyn, Kohen and meeting baby Haiden! Haiden is adorable and holding her got me even more excited to hold my own little baby very soon :) She's 2 months old and only 9 lbs, but she was born 5 weeks premature, so is doing well!! Blake had fun playing with Kohen, they are only a couple of months apart in age. I realized my boy might be a bit of a city boy on the drive to Jodi's acerage near Gibbons ... as we're driving down the highway he asked me, "Who planted all this grass?" lol!!! Too funny!
Friday afternoon my parents came over to babysit the kids, while Cal and I went on a "date." We had a yummy dinner at The Keg, walked around Woody's RV (didn't see a 5th wheel with the floor plan we want eventually!), Cal got a haircut, and we test drove a Dodge Grand Caravan!! And we're sold! It was so nice to drive and the options are so awesome, I can't wait to have one!! I didn't realize Dodge had patented the Stow N' Go option, but they have and we want it!! No rush to buy though, plan is to have one by fall. Saturday afternoon we attended Danielle Gillam's 2nd birthday party at her home in Stony Plain. It was a beautiful day, and the kids enjoyed playing in the kiddie pool! On the way home from the party we drove by a couple of homes in Spruce Grove that we had found on the internet. Both have been crossed of our "list"!! We're going to be very picky this time around, as hopefully the next time we move, we'll be staying there for many years! Sunday afternoon we visted our friend Mike and his daughter. Blake enjoyed riding Elena's quad and playing outside. It was another gorgeous day! Cal is off tomorrow and we are planning to take the kids swimming. Blake's been asking to go swimming for awhile now, so he's excited!
Em's doing great with just 1 nap a day now. She's stretched her afternoon nap to 2 - 2 1/2 hours and is sleeping until 8 or 8:30! I think she's actually getting more sleep now then when she had her morning nap?! I keep waiting for the morning when she'll get up between 6 and 7 again :S She is walking more and more each day and now walks between the couch and coffee table without holding onto anything! She LOVES crawling up the stairs. I usually follow behind her and let her go up and bring her back down quite a few times a day!! Otherwise, we have to have the gates up because she hasn't mastered the going down part yet. She's actually quite the little monkey ... she loves climbing the couch or trying to get onto the back of the couch!! She goes anywhere she wants and is very fast, switching between crawling and pulling herself up and walking along things! I really should take her to the health unit to get her weighed and measured, she has really grown in the past few months. She's stretched out a lot. Maybe we'll try and measure her at home!
Blake's been having an afternoon rest 1 or 2 times a week. We call it a rest now, because he doesn't take naps anymore, just Em ;) Although as soon as his head hits the pillow, he's out like a light! He's adjusted well to no napping, but definately needs to be in bed a lot earlier then when he was napping. I think I've mentioned it before, but Blake is sure a lot more social and brave these days!! For example, he never used to go to the top of the play structure at the YMCA or at the McDonald's play place, but we've noticed in the last few months, he'll go right to the top and down any slide, etc!! And we love watching him play with other kids at the park. He interacts with them and tries to get involved in their games, etc. There's just one thing we're trying to teach him ... to introduce himself and ask them their name! We'll often hear him talking to another boy or girl and calling them "boy" or "girl"!! It's pretty funny to eavesdrop sometimes ... "Hey boy come with me. Let's go down the big slide." lol!
The baby is doing good!! He or she is moving lots and growing too! The latter which has given me an excuse to buy a few new summer outfits :) I have an appointment next week and an ultrasound on the 16th! We're all going to the appointment, so that should be interesting ... ;) Of course, this pregnancy is going even faster then the last two. I added a baby ticker to the blog :) The busier you are the faster time flies! I can't believe I'm almost 1/2 way there ... wow!!
Have a great week everyone!

*Edit: I forgot to mention that Tuesday was my last day of work at Fort Saskatchewan Health Centre! I had a great day. The ladies at work took me for lunch and gave me a gift certificate to my favorite spa!! It was very unexpected and so thoughtful of them. I will definately enjoy cashing that in :) I've enjoyed my time at FSHC, as short as it has been, and will miss some of my co-workers whom I've became friends with. But hopefully I'll be able to pop in for lunch once in awhile and Facebook is great for keeping in touch!! I'm excited to start this new journey at home with my kids. As one co-worker put it, "Best of luck with your REAL job - Motherhood is much harder and more rewarding!" So true ...
