1 Boy, 1 Girl ...

Makes for a busy house!! And a very blessed Mom & Dad :)

We are enjoying Cal's vacation time and not looking forward to his return to work on Tuesday. Still holding out hope that we may win the lotto! LOL!

Emerson is 2 weeks, 3 days old and changing so fast. She's growing like crazy! Maybe next week I'll take her in to get weighed. I'm not so concerned about getting her weighed though - I can see her growing before my eyes!! She is a very good baby, but a bit different from Blake. I call her my little drama queen at times! I say it's the female coming out in her personality! She is sleeping quite well. At least 5 hours in one stretch at night and quite a bit during the day. I'm finding she gets a bit gasy at night time though. Not sure why, but doing the bicycle with her legs sure helps! She totally relaxes and loves it!! During her wake times, Emerson is so aware of her surroundings. She turns her head to look all around and makes eye contact with you and really enjoys watching you as you talk to her or tell her a story. She seems to love laying on her back, so I'm sure she'll create a huge bald spot in no time! I noticed today that her hair is lightening up quite a bit and I can definitely see a reddish tinge to it! Maybe we'll get our red haired girl after all?

Blake is doing great. Still seems pretty much unaffected by Emerson's arrival! He is very gentle with her for the most part and loves to give her kisses and rock her in her bouncy chair! He also enjoys sharing his hockey sticks with her and covering her up with her blankies! Oh and I can't forget, just today he's started wiping her mouth with her blanket!! I'm pretty sure he saw me wiping some spit up from her mouth and is copying that! Just last week Blake started referring to himself as "Yake!" For the longest time he's pointed at our dinner plates or drinks or coats, etc. and said, "Mom" and "Dad" and now he's added himself! It's really cute :) We love talking with him and hearing what he might come up with next! He's forming lots of sentences and we've been helping him learn his colors! So far, his favorite is orange. Kinda funny, because Cal's favorite color is orange! Last Friday we went to Cal's hockey game and as predicted, Blake had a blast! First we went upstairs to the restaurant for supper. The game started as we were waiting for our food to arrived and Blake surprised us by cheering and banging on the glass!!! It was so funny! After we ate I took Blake down to the stands. He was chanting, "Hockey, hockey, hockey! Dad, hockey! Hockey, Dad!!!" Then a guy on Cal's team gave Blake a puck to play with (he had his stick with him!) and that got him even more excited. Between periods we took some pictures of Blake and Cal. When Cal picked him up he was a bit mesmerized!! And then much to our surprise he was excited to see the Zamboni and was pointing to it and saying, "Boni! Boni!!" After the game Blake went for a sleep over at Grandma and Grandpa D's. As always, he was quite excited to sleep over and go for a ride in Grandma's car! He loves it when my Dad revs it up!!! We are very lucky to have such a happy, content little man ;)

On Saturday morning we loaded up the car and headed to Spruce Grove for family pictures with Rose. As usual, we were not disappointed! She does such an amazing job, it's so worth it! We can't wait to get all the photo's back :) I'll post a couple of sneak peaks on here, she doesn't want the unedited ones on Facebook yet. Blake and Emerson were both very good and Rose was quite surprised at how well Blake behaved.

I think the weather is playing with us! Yesterday was a beautiful day and now we're back to blah!!! I can not wait for the snow to go away and the temperatures to rise. We're really looking forward to playing outside a lot this summer. It's very hard to keep Blake inside, so we're sure he'll love having the freedom of running around in our backyard!

Talk to you all soon,

Cal, Tracy, Blake and Emerson
