Today Emerson had her first doctor's appointment. I knew she was gaining weight quickly, but didn't expect the scale to read 7 lbs 7 oz!!!! Wow! Dr. Radisic was happy with everything, so we won't be back until her 2 month check-up, if everything continues to go well!
Her umbilical cord fell off on Monday (23rd), which we were happy to see. I'm always scared it's going to get infected or something. It looks like she'll have a bit of an outy :)
Emerson is sleeping really well. Last night she slept 6 hours! Since she's gaining so much weight, she's obviously eating enough and there's no way I'm going to wake her up to feed her! And I certainly don't need to worry about my milk supply!! Hopefully she'll continue to sleep well ...
Take care, hopefully the weather will improve soon!

1 Week Old Today!
It is hard to believe, but a week has passed since Emerson was born! It's been a great week :)
Today we took the kids into the health unit to have them weighed and measured. Emerson was a whopping 6 lbs. 15 oz. and 19 3/4" long. Blake weighed 28.3 lbs and was 34 1/2" long. The nurse was very happy to see that Emerson has surpassed her birth weight! Once again, I must be producing cream!! LOL! The nurse said they like to see babies back at their birth weight by 10 to 12 days of age.
We've been enjoying our time together and loving having Cal home from work! Maybe we'll win the lotto soon and he can stay home all the time?! (wishful thinking!)
Blake is doing great with his new sister. We are so impressed! He is being such a great big brother. It doesn't seem like there's been any adjustment needed. He's doing awesome and hopefully that will continue! Tomorrow we're going to the YMCA to sign Blake up as a member. That way we can access the "good" swimming lesson times and get some deals as well! We're going to register him tomorrow for the "My First Preschool" program. I called today to see what it entails and was told they do crafts, have story time and music time, play time, etc. It sounds like something he'll really enjoy! It begins on May 1.
Emerson is such a little sweetheart. She loves being cuddled!! I think she'd like to be held all day and night if we let her! She's sleeping well, just not always at the times we'd like! The last 3 nights she's slept 4-5 hours in one stretch, which is really nice. Otherwise, she eats about every 2-3 hours. Like Blake, she is very alert and strong. One of the nurses we had at the Sturgeon said she'll be reciting her ABC's by 3 months! When she's awake she's looking all over the place and very curious. She lifts her head right off our shoulder's and looks all around! I keep telling her to stop showing off, we know how strong she is :) She has her first pediatrician appointment on Friday. We're enjoying having a little girl and dressing her in all the cute, girly clothes we've been getting as gifts :) My Mom ans sister have found some pretty adorable outfits!!
I'm feeling great, just a bit tired. I slipped on a pair of old jeans this week!! Now I have to get used to having a zipper again! LOL! Today I was feeling a bit sad about missing out on all the time I used to have to spend with Blake. But I'm trying to spend time with him when I can. I'm glad he's so understanding :)
We're looking forward to family pictures on Saturday with the talented Rose! And Saturday afternoon I'm taking the kids to Cal's hockey game. I know this will be a HUGE hit with Blake!! He loves hockey! He recently got a new hockey stick from Grandpa and real hockey gloves from Jer and Linds, so we'll be bringing those!! I can just see how excited he's going to be! It'll be great :)
Take care everyone,

She has ARRIVED!!
Emerson Marie Cameron blessed us with her arrival on Monday, February 16, 2009 @ 8:58 p.m. She tipped the scales at 6 lbs. 11 oz. & 18" long. She has a full head of dark brown hair (which her Mom can't wait to get a barrette in!) and dark blue eyes.
Cal and I were a bit surprised to hear, "It's a girl!" but we are thrilled and have been told many times in the past few days that we now have a "millionaires family!" Blake met Emerson for the first time on Tuesday morning. My Mom and Dad stayed overnight with him at our house and brought him in to see his Mom and Dad and meet his baby sister! He has been amazing with his little sister and hasn't shown too many signs of jealousy. I think he definitely knew a baby was coming and it helps that we practiced saying our baby name choices with him (we taught him to call Emerson, "Em"). He really enjoys holding her on his lap and loves to point out her ears, hands, nose, mittens and socks!! I think he's wondering why she's wearing mittens in the house?!
Cal is doing great! I am so, so, SO glad he is on vacation right now and doesn't go back to work until March 10. He's enjoying being a Dad of 2 and doing an amazing job of it :) He's so great with Blake and Emerson and it melts my heart to watch him snuggle and talk to Emerson!
I'm doing good too! I have to tell you, this labour was much different from Blake's! The first few hours were pretty much the same but the last hour was way different! I went into the hospital on Monday morning for a NST and they decided that since I was already 41 weeks, 1 day and due to be induced Tuesday they would induce me Monday. They didn't have any inductions booked for Monday, due to the STAT holiday and weren't that busy. So I had a cervadil put in at 10:55 am approx. and by 11:05 am contractions had already started!! They chose to use cervadil because I was 2 cm dilated and my cervix was thin and anterior. Apparently this is the least invasive method of induction, as compared to the "gel" and the "drip". When I started feeling contractions it was just like what I felt with Blake when I went into the hospital. So that went on and on and I walked laps around the unit and then it started getting a bit more painful so I went into the shower for awhile and then I decided to get something for pain. So the nurse was checking me out and while she was doing that my water broke. At that point I was 3.5 cm dilated. 20 minutes later I was begging and crying for an epidural and 9 cm dilated. My poor Mom joined us at this crazy time! Talk about painful!!! Can't even describe it. The nurse kept telling me to not run away and breath and it's going to be more fast and furious because it's my 2nd baby, etc, etc. I knew (well, hoped) it would be faster with the 2nd but didn't bank on it being so fast that I didn't have the epidural in time! As the anesthesiologist was doing the epidural I was fighting not to push and trying to sit still amongst back to back contractions. The epidural did kick in right before I delivered, but not completely. I know it wasn't near as painful as if I wouldn't have had anything, but I could feel my legs completely and everything else involved! With Blake I could still feel a bit, but not this much. Anyways the pushing was very short and once I calmed down and was breathing better she popped out quite easily! When they unhooked the epidural they discarded the medication that didn't have time to run through. Yikes!! Unlike Blake's delivery, Dr. Lidkea and the nurses didn't really instruct me to do anything in particular they just kind of let me push when I wanted and for how long I wanted to. I now think that it may have been because I wasn't all numb and could feel what my body wanted me to do! It was a bit surreal. I made comments through out the day about being outnumbered and at least I have a female dog so when Emerson was born Dr. Lidkea said, "Surprise! It's a girl!" My Mom, Cal and I were all a bit surprised! My Dad has thought we were having a girl all along though! Emerson was immediately put on me and we snuggled and cuddled her for about 1/2 hour before they took her to be measured, etc. I'm recovering fine and feeling great, other than being very tired :)
Emerson and I had a visit from the Healthy Beginnings Nurse yesterday. She had dropped to 6lbs. 5 oz. which is perfectly normal. I suspect she'll be back up to birth weight very soon, as my milk is now in. The first few nights she's been eating all night and sleeping more during the day, but we'll try to turn that around in the next few days! When Blake was born he didn't say a word for quite a few days, but Emerson is the opposite - she lets you know when she wants something! Due to her fast delivery she had a bit more than the usual amount of amniotic fluid left in her belly and has been spitting that up over the past few days. On Tuesday it was coming out of her nose and her mouth, which was scary at first. Her blood sugars were low when she was born. They checked them due to the fact that she was quite small for her gestational age. But they were back up by Tuesday afternoon thankfully!
She's absolutely perfect and her resemblance to Blake at birth is remarkable! Cal and I were comparing pictures and in some of them you wouldn't be able to tell if it was Blake or Emerson (except for the fact that the female/male anatomy gives it away)!!!! I was also surprised at how small Emerson was. All along I've been told the baby is a bigger baby. I'm never listening to that again! They said the same thing with Blake.
We hope everyone gets a chance to meet our little princess very soon! Thank you to everyone for all your love and well wishes. Talk to you soon :)
Lots of love,
Cal, Tracy, Blake and Emerson

41 weeks tomorrow!
This is new for us!! Tomorrow I'll be 41 weeks. I'm starting to doubt my due date. LOL! I had Blake at 40 weeks, 6 days. But then I realized today that I had two due dates with Blake, one was April 27 and then the one the Dr.'s went with was April 29. So maybe I was actually 8 days post due date with Blake?!
Who knows, all I know is this baby is not ready to greet the world yet :) This afternoon Cal and I went to the hospital. I wasn't feeling much movement and when I was in for a NST on Thursday it took awhile to get the baby moving and the nurse suggested doing a kick count daily and to come in if the baby wasn't moving a certain amount - which it wasn't today. But turns out everything was fine, phew! If need be I will have to go in for another NST on Monday and the induction is still booked for Tuesday. SO we will be meeting this baby within the next week!!!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend :) Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy 30th Birthday Dad!
Yesterday, February 11th was Cal's 30th birthday! Baby did not choose its Dad's birthday to make it's appearance!!! Which is okay, now we'll have one more cake and party in February! LOL! Cal had a pretty low key birthday yesterday - he opened his present from Blake and I after work, then we went out for dinner with my Mom and came back home for some birthday cake. In December Cal took a "30th birthday trip" to Seattle with 2 friends. They had fun, with the highlight of the trip being the NFL football game they attended. And since my Dad was out of town this week, my parents took Cal (and family!) out for supper on Sunday and he opened his gift from my fam! So he has had quite a few celebrations! And they are all well deserved! He works so hard and is such an amazing Dad and husband :) We love you Cal, a.k.a. Dad!
This morning I went for another NST. This time we were there a bit longer because baby was sleeping for the first part. After I ate a banana and a cookie baby starting kicking and I was free to go! My Mom came with us to help keep Blake under wraps! He'll know that unit pretty good by the time the baby arrives!! I'm still feeling great for the most part. Not too much else new to report on the baby front. It seems to be very comfy in there :) I will go for another NST on Sunday if need be.
Talk to you all soon!

Induction booked ...
I had a Dr. appointment today and I've been booked for an induction on the 17th. Dr. Ching said more than likely I will go into labour on my own, as I did with Blake, but that having the induction booked early is a good idea! So we will see what the next few days bring. Today my cervix was softer than last week and the baby was much farther down in my pelvis. The Dr. couldn't actually measure me properly because the babies head was so far down. So those are all good signs! There are some interesting upcoming possibilities for babies birthday - Feb. 11 (Cal's 30th), Feb. 13 (Friday the 13th), and Feb. 14 (Valentine's Day). My Mom's birthday is on the 20th and my future brother-in-law's birthday is on the 22nd, but I don't think we'll look that far down the road ... LOL! If baby hasn't arrived by Thursday I have to go in for a NST and same thing on Sunday. We are starting to really think we're having a baby boy, but it's just a hunch and we'd of course be just as happy with a little girl :) I was visiting with our neighbour today and mentioning that I'm feelin' a boy and we were laughing because there are 2 girls and 6 boys amongst 3 of us neighbours! Tomorrow Blake and I are going to head to the mall and do some walking (I'm going to walk and hopefully he'll sit in his stroller!). The day before I went into labour with Blake I spent walking the mall, so maybe it will work again?! Talk to you all soon!

40 Weeks :)
So today is due day! What's that mean anyways?! Who has a baby on their due day? (I guess I've known a few lucky ladies!!)
We went to the hospital this morning for a non-stress test and baby is doing great. I am finally feeling good and it's been over 24 hrs so I think I'm in the clear!!! (I'm knocking on wood right now!) Blake came with us to the hospital this morning. We thought it was a good idea for him to see the hospital and then hopefully when he visits when the baby is born he'll recognize it and be fine!
I have a Dr. appointment tomorrow afternoon so I'll let ya know if anything is new!
