Loving 2 Days a Week!!

Yeah, I think I could get used to working 2 days a week!! LOL! Too bad it's not going to last for long ... Actually I was thinking today that 3 days a week would be perfect! We'll see how 4 days goes. Blake and I are hanging out at home today. I took him to the doctor on Tuesday because I thought his cold was getting pretty bad. I just wanted to make sure he didn't have bronchitis or croup or something because his cough at night was very "barky". Well it turns out he has an ear infection. Poor little guy :( So he is on antibiotics for 10 days. He's sleeping better now and doesn't have the terrible cough, but is still soooo... stuffed up!! Hopefully it clears up soon! Wednesday was another good day. He was an angel at the day home and I had a great day at work. I found out the O.T. I work most closely with is leaving us at the end of June. I was sad to hear that, because she is fantastic! Her family is moving to Australia for 2 years!! It sounds like an awesome idea but I'm not sure if I'd have the nerve to do it! Her girls are 16 and 14. When she told me, I thought to myself, wow that's something I'd like to do! But realistically I'm not sure if I could leave my family for that long!!! So anyways, beginning in July I'll be working with a new O.T. I really hope they find someone as experienced and "good" as this one! We haven't been out on our bikes yet, but as soon as Blake is feeling better we'll take them for a spin! I'm really excited about his new bike trailer/jogging stroller combo! It's supposed to be cold this weekend unfortunately. We don't have too many plans. We were supposed to go to a 2 yr birthday party but the little guy has the flu so it's postponed. I think we're going to do some shopping. Blake's growing out of his clothes and we really need a 2nd car seat for Cal's truck!! Have a great weekend everyone :)

Wow!!

I really can't believe how good of a day we had!!! Blake had an unusual evening/night last night. He has a cold and is really stuffed up so is having trouble breathing! He went to bed later than usual last night. I thought that due to that he'd be up earlier and cranky today. But instead I had to wake him up. I got up at 5:55 and got ready for work and then I woke him up at 6:15 and got him ready and we were out the door at 7!! Cal had his boot camp class this morning so he was gone before we got up and I thought it might be really rushed trying to get out the door by myself, but it wasn't at all! (Note to Cal: that doesn't get you off the hook for future mornings! LOL!) I dropped Blake and the playpen off at around 7:10. I took him to the door and he went to Karen and waved at me as I left with a cute lil' crooked grin on his face! It was adorable! So I headed to Fort Saskatchewan with some tears in my eyes and arrived at work at 7:25! I start at 8 and I didn't know if anyone would be there yet, so I drove around Fort Sask a little bit and went back to work at 7:50! Turns out a few people start at 7:30 so I could have went in. I called Karen at around 8:30 to give her my new work number and she said Blake was doing great and she was going to get ready to put him down for a nap. I called her again at noon and she said he was busy eating lunch and he had a 2 hour nap! I typed her out a rather detailed report on Blake's every move, habit and behaviour and she said that just like I said he started showing signs of being tired and she rocked him a little bit, put him down and he was asleep in 5 minutes! I honestly could not believe it. I thought for sure he'd fuss a little bit because of being in a strange place, not in his crib, being overtired, having a cold, etc - but nope! And then he had a nap in the afternoon for 2 hours and 20 min. I really was surprised but very glad! After I found out he had a good morning nap I was very relieved and not worried at all. I picked him up around 4:30 and he was playing away! He still has a cold, but hopefully that will go away soon. It's so hard on little ones because they can't blow their nose!! And my first day at work was excellent! I'm very excited about my job and so glad to not be returning to my old one :) This will be a lot more challenging and interesting! I was quite impressed with my desk! LOL! The O.T. I work with said I'll have to bring in lots of pictures and I said don't worry, now that I see how much space there is I will be covering it with frames!! I'm a bit of a picture freak! Not a nice word to use but I can't think of another one at this time! So, that was our day! Really, really good and I hope they continue to be just as good! Tomorrow Blake and I are going to hang around home and we may go for a bike ride when Cal gets home from work! Take care everyone!

1st!

So tomorrow will be Blake's 1st day, spending all day, at the day home! It will also be my 1st day at my new job! Yikes!! I'm kinda ready!? I'm very glad I'm going back 2 days a week to begin with. Will make the transition much easier!! I keep thinking it will make it easier for Blake, but realistically I think easier for me!!!!! Blake will be fine! I work 8 - 4:15, but they are flexible with their hours so if I want I can start a bit later and stay later. I don't think I'll do that though. I think I'd rather be home earlier! We'll see. We had a great weekend. Cal had the rest of the week off and on Friday morning he started a boot camp class! The class is Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. On Friday night I went to a Norwex party. I am quite excited about the products!! Can't wait to get them and start cleaning! LOL! Then on Saturday was my friend Lindsey's shower and stagette. We had an awesome time!! It was great to get together with the girls!!! Cal and Blake had a boys day and had a fun! They went for a walk and played outside for awhile. The weather has been fantastic this weekend! Cal's sister Kathy came over today. We went for a nice walk and had a great visit! I'm hoping this beautiful weather is here to stay!! Anyways, I better get going! I'll let you know how the 1st day goes tomorrow!

Great Vacation!

We are all home safe and sound!! Blake, Cal and I all had a wonderful vacation!! Blake had fun at Grandma and Grandpa's and was a very good boy and Cal and I had a blast in San Fran! We missed Blake but it was nice to relax and have some "us" time! The times I missed Blake most were when I saw a baby around his age. And then on our flight from Vancouver to Edmonton I really started getting excited and when I finally seen him at the airport I was so happy I broke into tears!!!! I think Blake was a bit confused with that, he was kind of looking at me funny! Being a boy and all, I'll have to explain to him how girls can just break into tears at anytime! LOL! It is funny how we were only gone for 3 and 1/2 days, but he looked like he grew! Our New Mom's Group 1st birthday party on Saturday (April 5th) was so much fun! The kids loved playing and digging into their cupcakes. Blake's hands were stained blue from the icing! He had it all over his face! It was very cute :) My first day of work is this Monday (April 14th), so the next few days are busy getting ready! I also have my friend Lindsey's shower and stagette on Saturday, so that day will be busy with those events! I hope to get everything done today and tomorrow and then spend Sunday just relaxing with Cal and Blake. I'd like to get Blake weighed and measured at some point, but not sure if that's going to fit in! Maybe we'll just weigh him at home. I've noticed that he is filling out quite a bit since he's started the formula, so I'm interested to see how much weight he's gained! He's waving like crazy now! Pretty much any time you say bye or hi to him and wave to him, he starts flapping his arm! It is really cute!! He's also pointing. But it's kind of random! Just a finger pointed in the air! LOL! I hope everyone is doing great! I hear it is supposed to be +18 on Sunday! Keeping my fingers crossed!! Take care :)

First 1st Birthday Party and BIG Sleepover!!

Tomorrow (Saturday, April 5th) our new mom's group is having a big 1st birthday party at Gymboree!! We're really looking forward to it! Should be lots of fun!! We don't see our new mom's group friends as often as we used to so it will be nice to see everyone! Blake and Tristan will be the only "under age" kids at the party! LOL! Tristan's Mom and I joked that we'll have to get them fake i.d.'s!!!! After the party at Gymboree we are heading to my parents house. Cal and I leave for San Francisco at 6 a.m. Sunday morning. We are staying the night in Stony so that we don't have to get Blake up at 4 a.m.! My sister is coming home this weekend so we will see her on Saturday and then she is staying in Stony until Monday so she will be hanging out with Blake and my Mom! I hope that he has a good visit! He was really good for my Mom last Friday when he stayed the night so hopefully he will be just as good for a few more days! We're really looking forward to our trip. We have Alcatraz tickets and Giants tickets booked and can't wait for the shopping :) We thought about doing a wine tour but might wait until the next trip for that!! We don't want to pack too many things into the trip - we need to rest and relax too!! It's hard to believe I start work on April 14th. Wow! I'll say it again - where has the time gone?? I'm am really excited for my new job, but sad at the same time - this chapter in my life is over and it's on to a new one! I know for the rest of my life I'll feel that time is moving too fast! I have to really try to "live in the moment"!! And I am so grateful for the past year. Take care everyone!

Can't Believe It!!

Wow! Today I took Blake to the day home at 10 and picked him up at 12:30. When I got there Karen took him and put him down to play in the playroom. I came in to look at the new playroom and he was busy playing with the Little People garage! I thought, well I better go now while he's having fun and playing. So I left, got in my car and backed out of the drive way!! Once I backed out of the driveway I got all teary!!! We've left him at my Mom and Dad's but that is different. This was a big step! He's growing up :( Anyways, I did a few errands and then met my Mom for lunch. I called Karen at 11:30 to see how he was doing and she said he was great. He hadn't cried or fussed or anything, he was just playing and watching the other kids!! Then when I got there at 12:30 I walked in and he was facing the other way playing and I said, "Hey buddy!" He looked at me and smiled a huge grin and kept right on playing!!! He's so comfortable there, it's awesome! The only problem was that he wouldn't take his bottle before lunch, but she said he ate his lunch well and that she thinks he just wanted to be with the other kids because he kept sitting up and pointing to them and trying to get out of her lap! So that's not a big deal, I'm sure he'll get used to it and take it eventually. It's a huge relief that he was so good and happy there! Karen said he did look around a bit, like he was looking for me. She said we've obviously done a great job because he's so secure and content! That was a nice compliment!!! I like to thing we've done a good job so far :) Anyways, it makes it way easier to leave him knowing he's happy and having fun! But I was a bit surprised that he didn't fuss at all! Oh dear, my little man is not so little anymore ...

1st Hair Cut!

Today Blake had his first hair cut!! Cal had an appointment so afterwards Blake also got his hair cut! It went really well :) He sat very still for the majority of the time. Towards the end he started moving around a bit so I gave him his soother to keep him still until Livia was done!! He looks so different - more like a little boy! The hair stylist put some of his hair together with a piece of tape at the end in a Ziploc bag with her business card and the date and time of the appointment written on the back of the card! I of course took lots of pictures! I posted an after shot. Blake slept over at Grandma's house last night. He was an angel for her!! She brought him back home this morning and then we all went out for brunch. Cal and I went to Eric and Christa's for dinner, then to a movie, and then we went back to their house and finished watching the hockey game and watched another movie. We got home around 1 am and I woke up this morning at 8:30! I was quite surprised! I thought for sure I'd wake up at 6:30!! But I was very tired and not feeling too great, so I needed the sleep! It was very odd laying in bed and not having to get up!!! Blake is usually my alarm clock and I pop right out of bed! So I laid in bed until 9:30 ish!! It was nice, but we really missed Blake too! It was great to see his face light up when he saw us this morning :) Oh, I also forgot to post last time that Blake's 8th tooth broke through on Thursday! Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!
